About this Presentation
The global logistics industry has its origins in sail and horse and cart and while these modes of transport have long since been replaced, many of the work practices of the industry still have carry over from those days. International trade, in particular, is controlled by the myriad of regulations that governments have implemented which adds additional inertia to improving productivity. Today, the industry is still very much mired in cost world thinking, where margins on individual shipments and trade lanes are dominant. Making a meaningful change to the productivity of global supply chains will require considered thought, innovation and massive action on a global scale.
